Film and music channels are preparing for their seasonal switch. Classic movie channel GREAT! Movies Classic will become the first to switch on 23rd September 2021, when it becomes GREAT! Movies Christmas.
GREAT! Movies Christmas will feature Santa-filled adventures and more until 4th January 2022, when it the channel will revert back to showing classic movies.
The channel, previously known as Sony Movies Christmas, reached 7 million viewers last year, when it became one of the UK’s top movie channels for older audiences.
Available on Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat, the channel will only have limited availability on Freeview, taking over from GREAT! Movies Classic on channel 51.
Meanwhile it’s been confirmed that music channel NOW 80s will switch again to NOW XMAS this year. It will be available on Sky, Virgin Media and in some areas on Freeview.
The changeover takes place on Thursday 18th November. While NOW XMAS takes over NOW 80s’ slots, NOW 80s will replace NOW 90s until the New Year.
80s series Fame will be broadcast on both NOW XMAS and NOW 80s (on NOW 90s slot), so that Freeview viewers can continue to watch the series.
