Terrestrial TV viewers in the Irish Republic will be able to receive Sky News through Saorview from Tuesday 30th November 2021.
The news channel will be located on channel 23. It will be broadcast via Saorview multiplex 2 across the Republic of Ireland.
Sky News is already available terrestrially in areas with Freeview signal overspill from Northern Ireland. However, this is the first time Sky has launched a free-to-air service on terrestrial TV in the Republic.
Unlike the UK, Sky News in Ireland will be available on all relay transmitters. As a result, Sky News will have universal coverage across all TV platforms.
It’s the first major channel launch on the platform for several years, which provides most of Ireland with free-to-air access to the all main Irish channels. Excluding the Saorview information service and test card channels, there will be 12 TV channels on the platform from the end of November.
