The global financial channel Bloomberg and its offshoot Quick Take are now available on connected Freeview TVs and boxes.
Bloomberg is the latest addition to the Channelbox service, which is available on Freeview channel 271. Bloomberg Television offers non-stop live market coverage from the Asian, European and US exchanges Monday to Friday. Quick Take is Bloomberg’s streaming news service, with analysis on global news stories.
They join news channels including Euronews and France 24 on Channelbox, which is a portal through which a range of specialist and international channels can be accessed.
Bloomberg was originally due to appear on Freeview when the platform launched twenty years ago in 2002. It later became part of the short-lived Top Up TV terrestrial pay service. With the rise of connected TVs, the channel is now extending its UK availability through so-called FAST platforms.
FAST stands for Free Ad-supported Streaming Television. Platforms like Channelbox have allowed a variety of broadcasters to cost-effectively extend their reach on to Freeview. Some smart TV operators have their own FAST platforms, offering similar content.
Channelbox is available on all devices that support Freeview Play, as well as some older Freeview HD TVs.
In addition to being available on Freeview channel 271, all channels are available through the Channelbox app on Android and iOS devices.
