NBC News Now: Sky UK launch confirmed

4 March 2022

NBC News Now will officially launch on UK television on Monday 7th March. This follows several weeks of test transmissions on satellite.

NBC’s streaming news channel obtained an Ofcom licence in December to allow it to be broadcast on UK television platforms.

NBC News Now will be available on Sky satellite (Sky Q/Sky+HD) channel 525. The channel is exclusively broadcast in HD. It isn’t due to launch on Sky Glass at this time.

NBC News Now features rolling news Monday-Friday from lunchtime through to the early hours UK time.

There’s no rolling news service at the weekend, except during major breaking news events. Instead, the channel shows replays of news magazine Dateline NBC. On Sunday, the channel replays Meet The Press. Weekend editions of Today are shown late afternoon UK time. During breaking news, the channel will show NBC News specials and simulcasts of MSNBC.

Viewers in the Republic of Ireland won’t be able to see NBC News Now on Sky at this point: the channel does not have a broadcasting licence covering the EU.

NBC News Now has previously only been available to streamers in the UK via YouTube, at NBCNews.com and the NBC News app.

The arrival on Sky counts at the official UK launch under a British broadcasting licence. NBC News Now’s satellite signal was encrypted on 1st March after a month of free-to-air transmissions.
