DMAX moves to new home on Sky

29 March 2024

Factual channel DMAX is allocated a new channel number on Sky’s satellite service from Tuesday 2nd April, as Sky fills an empty slot.

  • DMAX change affects satellite viewers in both the UK and Ireland
  • Discovery Turbo also on the move for viewers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland
  • Adult and shopping channel changes also taking place on Sky satellite.

On Tuesday 2nd April 2024, Warner Bros Discovery’s DMAX channel will be promoted from channel 172 to channel 159 in both the UK and Ireland on Sky satellite.

DMAX, which normally shows factual programming is occasionally used by Warner Bros Discovery to show live sport, including snooker.

Channel 159 has been empty since the closure of E! three months ago.

The +1 version of DMAX will move to channel 259.

Meanwhile, Discovery Turbo will move to channel 172 in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, from its current home of channel 184.

Other changes on Sky

On the same date, Sky will remove Sporty Stuff TV (channel 427), which ceases to broadcast after 31st March. New shopping channel Home Shop TV will launch on channel 661, the former home of JML Direct.

In the adult section, channel 906 will close.

Removals and restorations

Meanwhile, Sky has restored India-based news channel WION (channel 519) after a week’s absence from the platform. The channel originally disappeared without notice. At the same time, Arise News (channel 516) has been delisted. Channel 7 (channel 181) is also once again absent from Sky.

Sky will remove channels from its Electronic Programme Guide if the broadcaster is (a) unable to provide a service due to technical reasons or (b) has fallen behind on payments.
