BBC News has completed its transfer to a new frequency, a move that impacts viewers and businesses across Europe.
After 22 years, the BBC is no longer broadcast on 12597 H via the Hotbird satellite system at 13°E.
That’s had wide reaching implications for cable headends, IPTV operators and hotel TV systems across Europe who use the Hotbird feed. A four month transition period saw BBC News broadcast on both old and new frequencies to allow both domestic and business users to switch.
The BBC News Europe feed on Hotbird 13°E is now solely available using the following parameters:
Frequency: 11034
Polarisation: Vertical
Symbol Rate: 27500
FEC: 3/4
Mode: DVB-S
As before, the BBC News service on Hotbird is SD only and is distributed via Globecast on behalf of the broadcaster. The satellite footprint also covers Iceland, North Africa and the Middle East.
The BBC offers a free-to-air HD version of BBC News Europe via the Astra 1 satellite system at 19.2°E.
