WBD’s Max gets ready to launch on more smart TVs

10 December 2024

Streaming service Max, which will feature HBO shows currently on Sky Atlantic alongside content from Discovery+, CNN and TNT Sports, announces another deal that will expand its reach.

  • Max will be available on smart TVs that run Titan OS.
  • Max is already live in parts of Europe and is coming to the UK and Ireland from 2026.

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and Barcelona-based Titan OS have struck a deal to bring the new Max streaming app to more smart TVs across Europe.

Initially this includes Philips brand smart TVs, with expansion plans to include JVC and other brands soon.

Subscribers can enjoy iconic brands and franchises such as HBO, Harry Potter, the DC Universe, Cartoon Network and Max Originals. The platform also features a variety of blockbuster films from Warner Bros Pictures and non-scripted programming from Discovery.

All eyes on where Max will become available…

As confirmed yesterday, Max becomes the home of HBO shows like The White Lotus, which are currently shown on Sky Atlantic. However, Max can’t launch in the UK and Ireland until the current content deal with Sky expires at the end of 2025.

Importantly, Sky failed to secure any exclusivity period for its own subscribers, meaning Max can go live on other platforms as soon as it launches in the UK and Ireland.

As a result, it will be possible to access a range of content for the first time without being a Sky or NOW subscriber. Between now and Max’s UK and Ireland launch in 2026, all eyes will be on the deals WBD strikes with smart TV operators, manufacturers and digital TV platform owners. Industry sources say WBD is keen to make Max as widely available as market leaders Netflix.

Corporate comment

Jacinto Roca, CEO at Titan OS, stated:

“We’re thrilled to bring Max’s world-class library to millions of homes across Europe, offering our users iconic franchises and premium entertainment. This partnership reinforces our commitment to creating the best TV experience. By leveraging our personalisation and discoverability features, we aim to connect Max’s incredible offering with the right audiences”.
