LG upgrades free channel service

The packet of free streaming channels available on LG smart TVs has had a revamp with an array of new features available to users.
30 November 2025

LG Electronics has released an update to its LG Channels streaming channel service, which enables users to access a range of free ad-support streaming services.

The update marks ten years since LG Channels first made its debut in Korea. The service is now available in 33 countries worldwide, including the UK.

LG says the update makes it even easier for viewers to discover and watch content with an enhanced user interface (UI), deeper personalisation and new regional specific features to reflect local viewing habits.

LG Channels is built into all LG Smart TVs released since 2016.

What’s new

  • Users can now receive personalised recommendations based on their viewing preferences.
  • The new ‘quick access’ feature allows users to simply press the ‘OK’ button on the LG Magic Remote while watching a programme to instantly see channel details, the TV guide, favourites and a list of popular content. This allows them to browse other live options and switch channels without ever leaving their current screen.
  • LG Channels now offers deeper personalisation powered by advanced AI algorithms that deliver tailored content suggestions.
  • Additionally, the platform has also introduced a number of region-specific features to reflect local viewing habits and cultural preferences.
  • In the US, users can keep track of new shows due to new functionality allowing them to set reminders for upcoming content they want to watch. In Europe, a multi-audio feature is being added to enable instant selection of preferred dubbing languages, while in the Middle East, the interface will support right-to-left text display.

Chris Jo, head of the webOS Platform Business Center at the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company commented:

“LG Channels is designed to give users seamless access to high-quality, engaging content. With the latest upgrade, from the new logo to our refined personalisation features, we are enriching everyday viewing by making the user experience more intuitive and enjoyable for millions around the world.”
