Rewind TV will begin 2026 with a line-up of classic British sitcoms and a new late-night cult cinema slot, continuing its mission to preserve retro entertainment for modern audiences.
From 5 January, viewers can revisit Jack Rosenthal’s comedies The Lovers, The Dustbinmen and The Fenn Street Gang. The Lovers, starring Richard Beckinsale and Paula Wilcox, airs at 12.00pm and 7.00pm. The Dustbinmen, featuring Bryan Pringle and Trevor Bannister, follows at 12.30pm and 7.30pm. The Fenn Street Gang, a spin-off from Please Sir!, is scheduled for 11.30am and 6.30pm.
On 8 January, The Top Secret Life of Edgar Briggs returns at 11.00am and 6.00pm. The series stars David Jason (pictured above) in one of his earliest roles, playing an inept secret agent in a parody that predates later spy spoofs.
Rewind TV’s new late-night strand, After Hours, will showcase cult exploitation films throughout January, including some titles once branded “video nasties”. Titles include Bob Clark’s Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things, British horror Horror Hospital, sci-fi shocker Inseminoid, and exploitation thriller Mardi Gras Massacre.
Jonathan Moore of Rewind TV said:
“Our mission has always been to honour classic British television, and this January’s line-up reflects that commitment. These series are cultural touchstones, and we’re excited to share them with long-time fans and introduce their timeless humour to a new generation.”
The schedule highlights Rewind TV’s dual focus: reviving sitcoms that defined an era while offering audiences a chance to explore the stranger corners of retro cinema.
