Following media reports, Sky confirms a carve up of UK UEFA sports rights. Sky Sports will show Europa and Conference League games from 2027.
- UEFA agrees deal that will separate Champions League and Europa League pay TV rights completely.
- Sky Sports wins back Europa League coverage after long spell away from the broadcaster.
- TNT Sports loses Champions League, Europa League and Conference League coverage.
Sky Sports has announced a new four-year partnership with UEFA to exclusively broadcast every match from the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League in the UK from the 2027/28 season.
The deal will see 342 European matches each season added to Sky’s line-up, frequently giving customers live football seven days a week during the European season on Sky Sports.
Champions and Europa Leagues now with separate broadcasters
With the Friday morning announcement, Sky has clarified rumours over the future of UK UEFA sports rights.
This follows reports from multiple sources on Thursday night saying that TNT Sports had lost the rights to show coverage from the UEFA men’s Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
Sky’s deal means the UEFA rights packages held by TNT Sports until the end of the 2026-27 season is split in two. This continues the fragmentation of UEFA rights in the UK. Orignally one broadcaster held all the pay TV rights until Amazon took Tuesday night Champions League games. The finals of all three UEFA men’s leagues could always be seen in one place.
Paramount is expected to be confirmed as the winner of Wednesday night UEFA Champions League games with Amazon Prime Video holding on to a package of Tuesday night games.
Sky was originally the pay TV home of UEFA men’s football leagues until 2014-15. It lost the rights to TNT Sports predecessor, BT Sport.
Jonathan Licht, Chief Sports Officer, Sky commented:
“I’m proud that we’re able to bring European football competitions back to Sky customers. The UEFA Europa League and Conference League have delivered some of the most exciting European stories in recent years, with English clubs consistently performing strongly and lifting trophies. This partnership is made possible by the strength of our business model and brand as the home of sport in the UK. Alongside the Premier League, EFL, SPFL, WSL and more, fans will now regularly enjoy domestic or European football every day of the week during the season on Sky Sports.”
