From today, Freeview users in parts of the UK can access a former streaming-only channel through an aerial. Meanwhile, there’s extra choice for children, but a retune may be required.
- Movie channel previously only available on streaming now available on Freeview 98 in parts of the UK.
- Cartoon Classics hybrid streaming channel joins Freeview line-up.
Streaming service Wedotv Movies has expanded its reach by launching as a regular broadcast channel on Freeview, following October’s platform update. The move marks the first time the channel has been available over-the-air via aerial, allowing viewers without internet access to enjoy its content.
Wedotv Movies offers a broad catalogue of films spanning action, comedy, drama, and thrillers, with fresh titles added monthly. Previously accessible only through streaming apps and platforms—including Virgin Media—the channel’s arrival on Freeview opens up new viewing options for traditional TV audiences.
Where to find the channel
The channel is now available on Freeview channel 98 in regions served by local TV infrastructure, as well as in Nottingham. This rollout enables non-connected devices to tune in for the first time, bridging the gap between streaming and broadcast television.
Dual Listing on Freeview
Due to the update, some viewers may find wedotv Movies listed twice in their Freeview guide: once on channel 98 as a broadcast channel, and again on channel 275 as a hybrid streaming service, which offers broader UK coverage. As you can’t have two channel listings with identical names, the version on channel 98 has the suffix ‘UK’.
Other Freeview changes in October 2025
The Freeview October update, which completed at 11:00am on 22 October also includes the following changes:
- Cartoon Classics has joined Freeview on channel 214. You’ll find – as the name suggests – older cartoon series, including the original Danger Mouse, Count Duckula and The Smurfs. It’s a new hybrid streaming service, meaning you’ll need to be connected to both a TV aerial and the internet to access the service. (Coverage limited to areas served by a local TV service, plus Nottingham.)
- YAAAS! another hybrid streaming service directed at children has changed multiplexes. This means you may need to retune to continue watching YAAAS on a Freeview TV. Coverage has also changed, so some viewers may no longer be able to access the service on Freeview 211.
- Gems TV has now been officially relabelled ‘Gemporia’, its new name. The channel adopted the new name a few weeks back, but Freeview users had to wait until the next regular platform update for the name to change. (Not all Freeview devices automatically change labels, so your TV may still say Gems TV until you retune.)
