The BBC has merged its breakfast time local news bulletins for the Midlands as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
Viewers in the East and West Midlands are receiving a combined pan-regional news service from BBC Nottingham during BBC Breakfast on BBC One in a measure designed to keep local news on air despite reduced staffing on site.
Last year, London and South East bulletins were temporarily merged for similar reasons.
ITV has also had to merge some of its regions in recent times, meaning its flagship local news programmes have had to cover larger than usual areas.
