The broadcaster behind the Now Music channels shakes things up by replacing Now 80s on national Freeview.
Early on Wednesday morning, Now 80s was replaced by sister channel Now 70s on Freeview. Due to the way channel changes are made on Freeview, viewers could initially see Now 70s on Now 80s channel label. This has now been corrected.
To prepare viewers for the change, Now 80s featured 70s hits on Tuesday evening.
Now 70s was briefly available on Freeview between February and May 2020 as part of trial broadcast, before becoming confined to the Manchester area only via the Manchester Television Network multiplex.
Meanwhile, Now 80s will continue on channel 75 in the Greater Manchester area only. Satellite viewers are unaffected by these changes.
The broadcaster has since confirmed that the channel swap is only temporary until later in the summer.
- Now 70s is available to viewers with the full set of Freeview channels, including all HD channels. If channels such as BBC Four HD, Quest HD and FreeSports are not available on your TV, you won’t be able to receive the channel via Freeview. However, Now 70s and 90s can be streamed through the Channelbox portal on channel 271 on compatible devices.
