Customers of the cable TV service now have the option to access thousands of hours of UHD programmes from Sky Entertainment and Sky Cinema.
With immediate effect, Virgin TV users in the UK can add Sky Entertainment and Sky Cinema UHD to their existing package. An upgrade will cost from £6 a month. Alternatively, all new customers who sign up for Virgin Media’s “Ultimate Oomph” package will get Sky UHD included.
The deal includes Sky TV shows such as The Blacklist and Seal Team and Hollywood blockbusters Birds of Prey and Twist. New TV series and films made available by Sky in Ultra HD will also be made available to watch.
How to access Sky UHD on Virgin Media
The deal encompasses on-demand TV. Virgin Media TV subscribers with the necessary package will find all Sky shows, series and movies in a dedicated section of the Box Sets and Movies area in the on-demand menu.
David Bouchier, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media, said:
“Unmissable telly deserves the ultimate in picture quality and Virgin TV customers can now enjoy top TV shows and films from Sky in Ultra HD. Our powerful Virgin TV 360 and V6 set top boxes allow our customers to watch the widest range of Ultra HD and High Dynamic Range content, all in one place, making us the true home of Ultra HD content.”
Virgin Media already offers linear 4K UHD services from BT Sport Ultimate and the Virgin Media Ultra HD channel. On-demand UHD content is on apps including iPlayer, Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube. UHD offers a screen resolution 4 times that of full HD.
