The cable TV provider is once again stepping in to provide free access to seven children’s channels as lockdown continues for another month.
From Monday 1st February 2021, Virgin Media will offer all TV subscribers access to the following channels, regardless of which TV package they take:
- Boomerang (and +1)
- Cartoon Network (including +1 and HD versions)
- Cartoonito
- Nickelodeon (including +1 and HD versions)
- Nick Jr
- Nick Jr Too
- Nick Toons
Free access to these channels will continue through until 2nd March 2021. Customers will also be able to stream hundreds of free educational videos and kids box sets from their mobile or tablet devices, via the Virgin TV Go app.
In addition, Virgin Media is offering free access to the Hopster app until the end of March.
Confirming the company’s latest freebie, David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media commented:
“We recognise the pressures on families to both educate and entertain the kids at home during lockdown. That’s why during February, we are giving our customers access to a great line-up of kids channels and programmes that foster fun and encourage learning, at no extra cost.
“We’ve seen a surge in popularity of kids programmes and apps during the pandemic and believe that this offering will make things a little easier for parents navigating home schooling and half term in lockdown.”
Since the beginning of the original lockdown, Virgin Media has been periodically making some of its premium channels available to a wider audience. Earlier this month, free access to a number of factual channels was announced. Until 9th February, all TV subscribers can access channels including Animal Planet HD, Crime + Investigation HD and Sky History.
