The twelve days of Christmas technically run until 5th January. In the world of broadcasting, the first seasonal channels have reverted back to normal programmes.
Music channel BoXmas, which had a later than usual start due to technical issues, also had an early finish, reverting back to ‘The Box’ at the end of Boxing Day.
NOW XMAS has also ended. It means NOW 80s has returned to its normal channel number. NOW 90s, which was temporarily replaced by NOW 80s is now also back on its normal channel numbers.
Meanwhile, MTV Xmas reverts back to MTV Classics on Wednesday 29th. That’s TV Xmas reverts back to That’s TV Gold at the end of the week.
Great! Movies Christmas switches back to Great! Movies Classics on Tuesday 4th January 2022.
The switchbacks aren’t automatically reflected on all TV platforms: some do not permit name changes during the Christmas and New Year period. As a result, some services will continue to show the wrong name until the first week of January 2022.
Some seasonal channels have been on-air since early autumn, as the definition of the Christmas period appears to start and end earlier each year.
