Arise News, the Nigeria-based news channel has vanished once again from Sky’s channel list in the latest in a series of removals that’s affected the channel since it first launched in the UK.
Sky channel 519 was deactivated earlier today meaning viewers can’t directly access Arise News at the moment. Sister channel Arise Play, on channel 175 is currently unaffected. Arise Play simulcasts Arise News at certain times of the day.
Arise News first launched almost a decade ago and originally included a substantial London base. But the channel was quickly embroiled in scandals relating to the non-payment of staff and Ofcom sanctions. The channel has since periodically dropped off Sky only to return some time later, understood to be linked to delayed payments to Sky.
The channel is currently broadcasting as normal on the Astra 2G satellite.
Sky has also delisted Channel 44, which was broadcast on channel 756.

Arise News has, like on previous occasions, returned to Sky and is once again available on channel 519.
