1960s drama The Avengers and children’s classic The Clangers are among the shows to join the archive UK TV streaming service this summer.
Elsewhere on the service, BritBox’s ‘ Summer of Film’ continues with a Danny Boyle film collection including survival drama 127 Hours starring James Franco, Slumdog Millionaire starring Dev Patel, comedy-drama Millions starring James Nesbitt and the mind-bending Trance starring James McAvoy and Rosario Dawson. The movies will be released in stages during the month of July.
BritBox will launch series 4 to 6 of 1960s spy drama The Avengers, with a selection of series 1 episodes also joining the service. The cult series features the adventures of eccentrically suave British Agent John Steed and his predominately female partners. Starring Patrick Macnee, Diana Rigg, Linda Thorson and Honor Blackman.
Meanwhile, The Clangers join BritBox on 21st July. The woollen-knitted alien species who live on their little planet. Their misadventures often bring them face-to-face with the planet’s other inhabitants. Narrated By Oliver Postgate. Contains some secret profanities.

BritBox’s documentary selection is also broadened with a number of royal additions including Inside the Crown: Secrets of the Royals; a landmark series examining some of the most tumultuous years of the Queen’s reign, and Prince Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall, which provides privileged access to Prince Charles and the royal estate he has built up over the last fifty years.
BritBox’s programme library will become part of the premium element of ITVX this autumn. In the meantime, standalone subscriptions are still available.
