New additions include GREAT! Movies Christmas and POP Kids, available on Samsung smart TVs, tablets and mobiles, regardless of local Freeview reception.
Samsung TV Plus is Samsung’s own streaming TV platform, which is built in to all new Samsung TVs and a range of Samsung Galaxy mobiles and tablets. The service is free and ad-supported. GREAT! Movies and POP are operated by Narrative Entertainment.
GREAT! Movies is now available to stream on channel 4991. Meanwhile, seasonal pop-up channel GREAT! Movies Christmas is on channel 4492. Children’s channel POP is available on channel 4612. The Samsung TV Plus versions of the channels have their own bespoke schedule.
Sister channels GREAT! Movies Action, Tiny POP and POP Max are currently not listed on Samsung TV Plus.
It’s the first time GREAT! Movie channels have appeared in any form on an internet TV streaming platform: owners Narrative Entertainment have so far not signed the channels up on internet TV platforms belonging to Sky, Virgin Media or BT TV (Pro).
Fans of festive movies will be interested in the addition of GREAT! Movies Christmas: the main version of the channel is limited by Freeview coverage that only reaches around 2/3rd of UK households, so the Samsung TV Plus version of the channel will potentially reach many who can’t otherwise watch.
Other additions to Samsung TV Plus this month include:
- Lego channel (4607) [Kids]
- Adventure Earth (4262) [Natural History]
- Fireplace (4007) [Lifestyle]
- Vevo Christmas (4700) [Music]
Sports channel FreeSports has been replaced by Viaplay Xtra on 4510. This is a direct simulcast of the channel which is also carried on Sky and Virgin Media.
▶ Where can I find TV Plus channels on my Samsung smart TV?
TV Plus channels appear above channel 4000 on all modern Samsung smart TVs built in the last five years. But if you have a Samsung TV model that supports Freesat, you’ll need to take the TV out of Freesat mode to access the channels. TV Plus is also accessible via the app.
On compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets, you’ll find the TV Plus app pre-installed among other Samsung apps. However, you may also be able to access TV Plus in the “Samsung Free” app, by selecting the ‘watch’ tab.
