News UK, the owner of TalkTV announces broad partnership with Sky, including carriage on Sky’s new streaming service. But Sky Glass viewers may miss out on Piers Morgan & Co in the beginning.
TalkTV launches on Monday 25th April on the majority of TV platforms, including Sky satellite, Freesat, Virgin Media and Freeview.
But it’s now been confirmed that a launch on Sky’s streaming TV service, Sky Glass, is likely to be late. In an announcement, News UK says it expects TalkTV to launch on Sky Glass “in the coming months”, unlike 25th April for all other platforms.
The deal bringing TalkTV to Sky Glass is part of a wider deal between News UK and Sky. Sky Media will be responsible for handling all ad sales on TalkTV’s live and on-demand output. Both companies will handle sponsorship opportunities.
Since launching in October 2021, Sky Glass customers have noticed big variations in channel availability. Numerous channels on Sky satellite are missing from Sky Glass. In the case of all third-party (non-Sky) channels launching on satellite, there is no automatic guarantee the channel will appear on Sky Glass.
“New voice” in broadcasting
TalkTV, is a self-proclaimed “major new voice” in news, current affairs and opinion. It will feature shows with Tom Newton-Dunn, Piers Morgan (pictured) and Sharon Osbourne each weeknight. During the day, TalkRADIO’s shows will be simulcast, using the current TalkRADIO TV visual radio system.
In addition to launching on satellite, cable and terrestrial platforms, the live channel will be available on streaming platforms. This includes Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung TV Plus and on YouTube. The channel aims to be available to everyone in the UK.
