Netflix wants to help users to be able to find new content that’s of interest them – presumably to encourage everyone to keep subscribing.
Its new ‘category hub’ aims to help subscribers find their favourite shows and genres and discover new categories, rather than just browse aimlessly through titles.
The category hub is found in the left-hand menu on both adult and kids’ profiles.
Here, subscribers will find their personalised top 3 categories based on what they regularly watch. This new hub will also include special collections of content to mark special occasions, such as Earth Day or local holidays. For example, at Christmas, this is where all the festive content will be grouped together.
Mansi Desai, Senior Software Engineer at Netflix, said:
“Think of this Category Hub as a more lively version of our old Categories row that’s tailored to your tastes and makes finding what to watch that much more simple (and fun!). At Netflix, we’re always looking to improve the member experience. We hope this new feature will make it easier to find your most beloved categories and explore new genres when you’re craving some adventure.”
