Pop Player, a streaming service for young viewers is now available across a wider range of Freeview devices.
Pop Player offers access to programmes shown on TV channels Pop, Tiny Pop and Pop Max and has now launched on Freeview channel 208.
Until now, access to the channel’s programmes on Freeview had been restricted, depending on where you live.
Most Freeview users can access Pop on channel 206. Tiny Pop for preschoolers is carried in some areas on channel 207. The Pop Player on channel 208 carried on-demand programmes from both services as well as a live stream of third channel Pop Max. Pop Max is the home of action cartoons including Pokemon.
The Pop Player previously made its debut as an app on Freeview Play devices. But the launch of Pop Player on its own Freeview channel widens its reach across devices that don’t support Freeview Play, but do support HbbTV or the MHEG-IC format used by some older Freeview HD receivers.
Pop is owned by Narrative Entertainment, who also own the GREAT! Movies channels. The company bought the channels from Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2021.
Programmes available on the Pop Player include:
- Pokémon
- Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir
- ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks.

- Barbie
