Classical music station Scala Radio will be removed from the Sky satellite service in favour of its sister station.
On Wednesday 14th December, Sky channel 0151 will switch from Scala to Greatest Hits Radio. Scala had only just recently moved to that channel number, as part of a wider reshuffle of radio stations on Sky’s satellite TV service.
Scala first launched on Sky in 2019, following its national launch by owner Bauer Media Audio on DAB and online. It became the first new classical music station in the UK since the launch of Classic FM in 1992.
Following its removal on Sky, Scala will continue to be available to listeners on DAB and online.
Sister station Greatest Hits Radio is a classic hits network. It operates a patchwork of local and regional frequencies across the UK. The station is home to a range of familiar radio voices, including Simon Mayo, who presents drivetime on Greatest Hits Radio and a weekend programme on Scala. The station is already available on TV through Freeview, where it’s available on channel 716.
