It’s TalkTalk’s first TV box that doesn’t use YouView to deliver services to viewers. The box will provide subscribers with a selection of UHD entertainment for £4 a month.
Powered by Netgem’s TV platform, the new TalkTalk 4K TV Box provides access to more than 70 channels and on-demand players, with streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video also available. TalkTalk also says it’s the first ISP in Europe to launch TikTok on a set top box.
The new TalkTalk TV 4K UHD Box is available on new and existing fibre plans. Other features include the universal search function, compatible with Alexa, enabling customers to easily search for their favourite TV or movies across services. The device has a DVB-T/T2 tuner, meaning most of the live TV channels available on the box will continue to be delivered through a TV aerial.
Jonathan Kini, Managing Director of TalkTalk Consumer and Direct Business, said:
“Our priority is to ensure we provide the best entertainment and fibre packages on the market, at great value. That’s why we’re delighted to partner with Netgem to release the TalkTalk TV 4K Box – bringing next level entertainment to our customers and easy access to TikTok, Netflix and Prime Video.”
Meanwhile, TalkTalk continues to offer its YouView-based TV service to subscribers. It recently confirmed it was continuing to support YouView in a new two year funding agreement with other shareholders. This means users of the YouView-based TalkTalk TV service will continue to be supported.
