Two years after leaving, the international French-language service is now back on Hot Bird, broadcasting free-to-air to viewers across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
Service was resumed at the end of last week, uplinked by France’s Globecast to Hot Bird.
In May 2020, TV5 MONDE streamlined its satellite distribution, focusing its main free-to-air European distribution on Astra 19.2°E. But Hot Bird is a popular source for cable and IPTV providers. The return of TV5 MONDE to Hot Bird will also benefit viewers in French-speaking parts of Switzerland and Belgium with single-satellite set-ups. Hot Bird is where Switzerland’s public broadcaster and Belgium’s French language services are broadcast.
TV5 MONDE is broadcast in standard definition on Hot Bird. The main HD outlet is via Astra 19.2.
