A week after making numerous entertainment channels available to all TV subscribers, Virgin Media has opened up a package of children’s channels to all viewers.
As a result, channels including Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, Nickelodeon, Nick Toons and Nick Jr are now available to all, regardless of subscription tier.
The free offer for the children’s channels runs until 8th March.
Free access also includes access to children’s programmes and box sets via the Virgin TV Go app.
Virgin Media has already made channels including Comedy Central, MTV and Sky History available to all TV viewers in a separate offer that runs until the end of February.
Combined with the children’s channel freebie, Virgin Media’s latest move will especially benefit subscribers on the most basic TV packages: The two offers currently provide access to around 20 extra channels (more if you count SD/HD simulcasts and timeshift channels separately). Conversely, subscribers on a Virgin TV subscription that already includes these channels won’t notice any difference.
David Bouchier, Chief TV & Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2, said:
“For half term, and right up until 9 March, we are giving all of our Virgin TV customers access to our full range of kids’ programmes at no extra cost, all delivered by our hyperfast network. And while many families will be enjoying the great outdoors during half term, we have them covered with a stellar kids TV line-up of entertainment options, catering for all ages from toddlers to teens.”
