Streaming channels from NBCUniversal, UKTV and MGM rolling out on Amazon’s Freevee service in the UK as it seeks to boost its portfolio amidst fierce competition from other online streaming platforms.
- UKTV’s four new streaming channels, which debuted on Samsung TV Plus and Pluto TV this week are rolling out.
- Channels dedicated to The Bionic Woman, The Addams Family and The Pink Panther coming to Amazon Freevee.
NBCUniversal has added six new channels for fans of The Real Housewives, Million Dollar Listing and Top Chef, with back-to-back episodes 24/7. Channels built around Universal’s back catalogue including Xena: Warrior Princess, Northern Exposure and The Bionic Woman are also now available to stream.
UKTV’s four new streaming channels – UKTV Play Heroes Laughs, Full Throttle and Uncovered – are also due to be rolled out imminently on Amazon Freevee’s channel line-up. Freevee will become the third platform to take the new channels, after Samsung TV Plus and Pluto TV added them this week.
Later in the autumn, MGM will launch channels on Freevee in the UK, again each devoted to a particular show. They are: Paternity Court, In the Heat of the Night, The Addams Family, The Outer Limits and The Pink Panther.
Freevee has spent the last year building up its free streaming channel line-up. But it has fierce competition from LG Channels, Pluto TV, Rakuten TV and Samsung TV Plus. And there is some duplication of services across platforms, with Baywatch, CNN FAST and Vevo Pop among the streaming channels available in a variety of locations. Amazon does include some exclusive channels, including streams dedicated to Neighbours and Judy Justice.
