Arise Play has dropped off Sky this week in the latest channel removal from the satellite platform.
Arise Play fell off the Sky channel list on Monday, followed by Arise News on Tuesday.
It’s become a common occurence for either Arise News or Arise Play to fall off the Sky guide, with Arise Play disappearing temporarily in January. Arise News was removed for several days last summer.
Arise News continued to broadcast on satellite, off the EPG. However, the news channel was reinstated to Sky channel 516 on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, Arise Play is currently off-air altogether.
▶️ Why might Sky remove a channel?
- Sky will remove a channel from its Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) if a broadcaster falls behind on payments or if the broadcasts do not conform to the minimum standards stipulated by Sky or is unable to provide a service at all.
- Once the outstanding balance is received or technical issue is resolved, the channel is permitted to return.
Arise News has a long history of drop outs on Sky, during a turbulent first decade of broadcasting. It first began broadcasts in February 2013 and was embroiled in a major scandal in 2016 when staff and suppliers were left unpaid.
In the past month, other channels including PTV Global, Siraj and Pitaara were temporarily removed from Sky’s EPG before being reinstated.
Good News TV has also been delisted from Sky this week.
