There’s no regional news for viewers in the North East and Cumbria BBC region this weekend due to maintenance work.
The Newcastle edition of Look North will be replaced by the Leeds edition. This affects the Saturday and Sunday teatime bulletin, plus Sunday’s late bulletin and Monday morning’s Breakfast bulletins
Various BBC regional news services have been affected by maintenance and upgrades in recent weeks as a result of a number of projects. This has resulted in mostly minor changes to regional news services.
Meanwhile, viewers in North East and Cumbria have been told the Leeds Look North team will “do their best” to carry any major news stories from their area while the maintenance takes place.
Maintenance work at regional centres includes the upgrading of facilities to cater for HD opt-outs. Some BBC regions, including East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire are getting new studio sets as part of a new look 6:30pm bulletin.
These projects are operating on a different timeframe to the project to rollout regional BBC One HD services in England. The BBC is currently rolling on regional BBC One HD on satellite. Sky Glass/Stream, Virgin Media and some BT TV users can already access regionalised BBC One HD. But until all work is complete, some regional BBC One HD services continue to be upscaled to HD.
