The BBC will provide multiple Glastonbury live streams and pop-up channels on the BBC iPlayer, with over 40 hours of coverage on its main TV channels.
Coverage from the Pyramid Stage will be available to stream in UHD HDR on the iPlayer while BBC One will feature more sets than ever before. The iPlayer will launch a number of pop-up channels for the event, including a new stream providing signed coverage from the Pyramid Stage.
BBC Two, BBC Three and BBC Four will also be dedicating parts of their schedule during the Glastonbury weekend (23-25th June) to live coverage, bringing viewers a diverse range of artists from the Pyramid, Other, West Holts, Woodsies and Park stages.
Artists whose sets will be featured across BBC TV include: Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses, Elton John, Lizzo, Blondie, Fatboy Slim, Fred Again, Kelis, Lewis Capaldi, Måneskin, Raye, Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Wizkid. Further acts are to be announced.
Presenters include Lauren Laverne, Jack Saunders, Jo Whiley and Clara Amfo (pictured above).
Meanwhile the organisers of the Glastonbury festival have confirmed they’ve signed a multi-year extension with the BBC to provide coverage in the coming years.
▶ Overview: Extra coverage and pop-up channels on the BBC iPlayer
- The Glastonbury Channel on BBC iPlayer is live from Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th June from midday each day. Between Monday 26th June and Friday 30th June, the channel will show the best bits of this year’s performances 24/7.
- Pop-up channel Glastonbury Greatest Hits will run from Monday 19th June with archive performances from previous years.
- During the festival, viewers will be able to choose between five live streams across the stages that are being filmed by the BBC. (This effectively replaces the old Glastonbury Red Button service that was previously offered via satellite and cable.)
- There will also be a dedicated Pyramid Stage – Signed channel, which will provide every performance live in British Sign Language.
- The Glastonbury Webcam will have its own pop-up stream on the iPlayer, launching at sunrise (4:30am) on Monday 19th June, running until 10pm, just after sunset on Sunday 25th June 2023.
Glastonbury 4K UHD coverage
- Sets from the Pyramid Stage will once again be shown live in Ultra High Definition on BBC iPlayer on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Red Button
Not all red buttons are created equal. For viewers with a newer TV or satellite, cable or IPTV receiver (e.g. Sky Q, Virgin Media 360), pressing red during Glastonbury will take you to the relevant part of the BBC iPlayer to access the additional coverage and channels listed above.
Older TVs and receivers will not be able to access this extra coverage.
Radio
BBC Radio will broadcast over 85 hours of live coverage across Radio 1, Radio 1 Dance, 1Xtra, Radio 2, 6 Music and the Asian Network. The live coverage will be available to stream via BBC Sounds. Not wanting to entirely miss out, Radio 4’s Women’s Hour will come live from Glastonbury on Friday 23rd June.
