Viewers preferring a football-free start to the day will see reruns of The Chase on ITV1 and BBC Breakfast split over two channels.
The Women’s World Cup, which kicks-off on Thursday 20th July, will result in changes to overnight and daytime TV schedules, thanks to the time difference with hosts Australia and New Zealand.
Some games will kick-off as early at 1am, while others will start as late at 1pm.
Schedule changes will affect BBC One, BBC Two and ITV1 (STV in central and northern Scotland).
On Thursday 20th July, BBC Breakfast will switch from BBC One to BBC Two at 7:30, to allow BBC One to show coverage of the opening game between New Zealand and Norway.
The channel switch means Breakfast will not include regional news bulletins while on BBC Two. That’s because unlike BBC One, BBC Two is not a fully regionalised service.
Breakfast will be cut short to simulcast Nicky Campbell at 9am, which itself will end an hour early, as Radio 5 Live covers the next World Cup game.
On Friday 21st July, World Cup Breakfast disruption continues as ITV’s Good Morning Britain takes a break to make way for coverage of the Philippines v Switzerland. ITV1 is then scheduled to show The Chase at 8:05am, before Lorraine returns schedules to normal at 9am. ITV1’s breakfast service will also be off-air the following Monday-Wednesday (24-26th).
Other daytime shows including BBC One’s Morning Live and ITV1’s This Morning and Loose Women will also be subject to changes over the next four weeks. BBC Two will replace its usual BBC News/Radio 5 Live simulcasts on days when it is due to take over live coverage.

The BBC and ITV secured a deal last month to show the Womens World Cup. FIFA had threatened a broadcast blackout, because the broadcasters had been unwilling to pay as much as FIFA wanted, due to the less attractive kick-off times. In the end, an existing EBU broadcast deal was extended to cover the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
