UPDATED | Kay Burley will be joined by Dame Joanna Lumley for Sky’s live coverage of the King’s Coronation. Sky will also offer a UHD feed of the event.
Sky’s Anna Botting and royal events commentator Alastair Bruce will complete Sky’s line-up for the event, which takes place on Saturday 6th May 2023.
Dame Joanna Lumley returns to Sky News after featuring as a special guest for coverage of last year’s Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. She’ll be joining the Sky News team after attending the coronation as a guest of King Charles III.
- Coverage will be ad-free between 09:00-15:00.
- Sky News coverage will also be simulcast on Sky Showcase, between 07:00 and 15:00.
- Ultra HD coverage will be available from 09:00-17:00 at no extra cost to viewers with a compatible 4K UHD TV: If you have a Sky TV subscription, you’ll get UHD coverage with Sky Q, Sky Stream or Sky Glass. If you don’t, you can access UHD coverage through Sky News on the YouTube app on your smart UHD TV.

Ahead of the day, Sky News will air special documentary “My King, My Country” on Sunday 30th April at 20:00. And the broadcaster will also offer a three-part podcast on Queen Camilla from 3rd May.

The BBC announced it would be carrying coverage of the Coronation on BBC One, BBC Two and BBC News. It will also offer multiple commentary options, plus UHD coverage on iPlayer. ITV is yet to confirm its arrangements for the event.
Meanwhile, Ofcom will allow broadcasters to make requests for recovery of lost advertising time, if they cover the event ad-free.
