Channel 4 streaming app returns to Freesat

29 September 2023

Channel 4’s streaming service is now available on the Freesat 4K box bringing Freesat users an extra 16,000 hours of shows, movies and boxsets.

  • Channel 4 and Freesat fell out in 2018, resulting in Channel 4 HD and the former All 4 leaving the platform.
  • In 2021, Channel 4 became a part-owner in the company that manages the satellite TV platform. Work then began to restore Channel 4’s app on the Freesat platform.
  • The arrival of the Channel 4 app means users of Freesat’s current generation of satellite receivers have access to a wealth of popular shows, hit US series, true crime and more.

The Channel 4 on-demand app is relaunching on the brand’s 4K TV box, joining some of the UK’s best loved TV content.

After a five year absence from the platform, the Channel 4 app brings together beloved British TV shows, hit US series, gripping true crime, world drama, live sports, and more.

The launch coincides with a celebratory competition that will give telly lovers the chance to win prizes inspired by some of Channel 4’s biggest shows, including a Meta Quest 2 VR headset, a Ninja Air Fryer, and a £100 Eurostar voucher.

Older Freesat receivers are no longer directly supported. Viewers still using older Freesat boxes will need to upgrade to benefit from the platform’s full set of streaming apps.

Channel 4 rebranded its streaming service to ‘Channel 4’ from its former name ‘All4’ earlier this year.
