GREAT! tv is now available across more of the UK on Freeview channel 50, after the channel moved to national Freeview capacity earlier on Wednesday.
Operated by Narrative Entertainment, and sister channel of GREAT! movies, GREAT! tv was previously only available to Freeview viewers in some areas only.
Today’s move means most Freeview viewers will be able to watch on channel 50. Only Freeview viewers using smaller relay transmitters will miss out.
▶ What’s on GREAT! tv?
- Daytime highlights include Diagnosis Murder, Castle and Murder, She Wrote.
- In the evening GREAT! tv showcases classic comedy M*A*S*H and the comedy drama Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) [pictured above].
- Late night drama includes The Persuaders and Return of the Saint.
- Weekend schedules include made for TV movies, plus marathon sessions of Diagnosis Murder and Murder, She Wrote.
Viewers who could previously see GREAT! tv on Freeview may need to retune to keep watching.
Currently, both the old (locally available) and new (nationally available) versions are being broadcast side-by-side. After a retune, the old copy will move to channel 792 before being delisted next month.
The change to GREAT! tv is one of a number of changes to Freeview that have rolled out this week. This also includes the launch of a new free-to-air live Safari channel, WildEarth and of QVC 2, the new merged shopping channel containing the best of QVC Beauty and Style.
GREAT! tv’s sister channel GREAT! movies is on Freeview channel 34. GREAT! romance is on 52. And viewers can find GREAT! action on channel 42, except on Freeview transmitters in Wales. The channels are also widely available on Sky, Freesat and Virgin Media.
GREAT! tv is the successor of Sony Channel in the UK, as a result of Narrative Entertainment’s purchase of Sony’s UK TV channel business in 2021.
