Freeview viewers in Yorkshire and the North Midlands will be without TV services for a period of time over the next two nights.
Engineering work at the Emley Moor transmitter means all channels will be off air for a time during the early hours of Friday morning and again early Monday 12th June.
Emley Moor transmitter is the region’s main TV transmitter tower, delivering a signal to viewers from York to Worksop, including Leeds, Huddersfield parts of Sheffield and Doncaster. It also supplies a signal to a number of relays in the region.
The work started on Thursday morning leaving night owls in the region without terrestrial television services until 05:45. However, little notice was given regarding the extent of the engineering work. Freeview had previously provided a vague update that said viewers “may” see their “screens go black on some or all channels” at some point this week.
Separately this week, some viewers near the East Coast may experience temporary Freeview interference due to current high pressure weather conditions. However it is unlikely to affect greater numbers of viewers.
