A full version of the GREAT! Player streaming service has now arrived on Freeview Play and YouView following the earlier launch of a red button service.
- The GREAT! Player offers content from GREAT! Movies, GREAT! Action, GREAT! Christmas and GREAT! TV.
- The streaming service is also integrated into Freeview Play’s portal on channel 100
GREAT! Player first popped up earlier this year as a red button service, but the full version of the app has recently arrived on Freeview Play and YouView devices.
Owner Narrative Entertainment has this week officially announced the launch of the full app across both platforms.
This means the streaming app now sits alongside established players like the iPlayer and ITVX in the app tray, no longer requiring viewers to visit a GREAT! Network channel to launch the service via the red button.
The full version of the GREAT! Player app on Freeview Play and YouView features an array of star-studded Hollywood movies, fast-paced action films, love stories and nostalgic series that viewers can catch-up on anytime they like, for free.
Content is available from all of the GREAT! channels, including GREAT! Movies, GREAT! Action, GREAT! Romance/Christmas and GREAT! TV. Viewers with a Freeview Play compatible device can also find GREAT! Player content via the main Freeview Play portal on channel 100.

It’s been a good year for Narrative’s GREAT! Network so far: GREAT! TV, home to some of the most loved classic TV shows, saw its share of commercial impacts grow +49% year-on-year since going nationwide on 21st June. Similarly GREAT! Movies remained the UK’s biggest independent movie network, reaching 6 million Adults 16+ per month.
GREAT! Christmas returned to audiences this year with enhanced UK distribution (i.e. a national Freeview slot), remaining the nation’s #1 Christmas channel, and viewers up 55% year-on-year.
