Gerry Anderson’s Space Precinct to stream in HD for the first time exclusively on BritBox, via ITVX Premium. This has been made possible through AI-upscaling.
ITV confirmed that Space Precinct will stream for the first time in high definition on BritBox, available via ITVX Premium. The debut, on Thursday 13th April, is just in time for Gerry Anderson Day.
All 24 episodes of the remastered live action drama will be available via the BritBox area of ITVX.
Until now, the series, directed by Gerry Anderson, has only ever been shown in standard definition. The series has now been AI-upscaled from the master digibetas by ITV Content Services.
Space Precinct sees a veteran New York cop transfer to a new precinct – the Demeter City Police Department on the planet Altor – as he discovers that a life of crime is not a purely human pursuit.
Ted Shackelford stars as Lieutenant Patrick Brogan, alongside Rob Youngblood and Simone Bendix as fellow officers who try their best to maintain law and order amongst the melting pot of different alien races. The series featured many high-profile guest stars, including Frances Barber, Ray Winstone, Maryam D’Abo, Nickolas Grace and Steven Berkoff. Space Precinct is also thought to be Idris Elba’s first TV appearance.
At the time the series was the most expensive live action show made to date. Several episodes were directed by James Bond director John Glen.
