Samsung TV Plus adds sports channels

13 September 2023

Users of Samsung’s inbuilt TV platform can now access a range of sports channels, including streaming channels from DAZN.

  • The recent arrival of four new free, ad-supported TV services for users in the UK has been confirmed.
  • Samsung TV Plus is built-in to all current Samsung smart TV models, plus a range of Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

The autumn line-up includes Red Bull Media House, The PGA Tour, DAZN Ringside and DAZN Women’s Football.

Red Bull Media House (channel 4513) programming content focuses on long-form original programming of live events and shows related to extreme sports, music, lifestyle, and culture.

The PGA Tour channel (channel 4508) provides Samsung TV Plus viewers with a robust offering of content from PGA Tour Entertainment, including its originals such as Tiger Tracks and Tiger Tales, round and tournament recaps, telecast re-airs, official films and PGA Tour player profiles.

Additionally, two new DAZN channels have launched on Samsung TV Plus. DAZN Ringside (channel 4512) provides viewers with action across boxing and MMA from partners, including Matchroom Boxing, Golden Boy, Wasserman and MF & DAZN: X Series.

DAZN Women’s Football (channel 4511) also gives viewers front row seats to the best action in Women’s Football from live UEFA Women’s Champions League and Liga F to hours of behind-the-scenes documentaries.

The launch the DAZN streaming channels in the UK follows similar launches in parts of continental Europe. Samsung TV Plus is currently not available in the Republic of Ireland.

Corporate comment

Jennifer Batty, Samsung TV Plus European Head of Content Acquisition commented on the new free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels:

“It’s exciting to see how FAST is evolving to meet the demands of its growing viewership. Sports fans are increasingly finding it to be the ideal format to engage with more from their favourite sports personalities and organisations beyond their live performances. Whether they prefer football, golf, racing, extreme sports or something else, FAST’s additive capabilities within sports broadcasting provide viewers with content in and around their favourite sporting competitions, building a 360-viewing experience like never before.”
