Challenge and Sky Mix among the latest channels added to Samsung TV Plus, available on Samsung Smart TVs, tablets and smartphones.
- Seven new channels arrive on Samsung’s free streaming service.
- Other additions include CNBC, Crime Network and a channel dedicated to quiz show Eggheads
For the first time, two of Sky’s free-to-air channels can be streamed for free on Samsung’s in-house TV platform, TV Plus.
Sky Mix, which replaced Pick last month, is Sky’s de facto entertainment barker channel, offering samples of its premium entertainment offering. The channel already broke new ground when it launched as an HD only service on satellite and cable.
Sky Mix’s current highlights include True Detective (S1), Big Little Lies (S1), Gangs of London (S1), Midwich Cuckoos, Rob and Rom vs… (S1). The channel streams in HD quality (subject to network connection). Sky Mix on Samsung TV Plus is a direct simulcast of the channel as shown on platforms like Freeview.
Challenge is Sky’s home of classic game shows and more. Its current schedule includes Bargain Hunt, Cash in the Attic and Anne Robinson-era Weakest Link. The addition of Challenge on TV Plus also coincides with the arrival of a channel dedicated to quiz show Eggheads. The Eggheads channel features a range of episodes originally shown on BBC Two.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s new Crime Network is the home of Narcos, the drama series based on the story of Pablo Escobar and the 1980‘s Colombian drug trade. Meanwhile, 1960s-set drama Mad Men is now available on the Entertainment Hub channel.

Samsung TV Plus is exclusively available on Samsung devices. This puts it in direct competition with platforms including Freeview. In fact, no current Samsung Smart TVs can officially carry the Freeview logo, making it the biggest TV manufacturer not to ship with Freeview Play. TV Plus channels are found above channel 4000. TV Plus isn’t available on Samsung TVs in Freesat mode. (Freesat support available on selected models from recent years).
