Scottish broadcaster reaches streaming target one year early, as STV records a 17% increase in users signed up to the STV Player.
STV previously targeted 5 million users by 2024, but helped by a surge of viewers wanting to stream Brookside, the 5 million barrier was cracked in the last three months.
Overall,
- Registered users were up 17% to 4.9m by the end of 2022 and have recently surpassed 5 million.
- Online viewing is up 6%, advertising impressions +27%
- Streams are up 1%, with live streams up 5%
- Monthly active users up 10%, STV Player VIP users up 16%
Meanwhile, STV’s new partnership with ITV, that runs until 2029 will guarantee streamers in Central and Northern Scotland with over 100 hours of new content (available on ITVX elsewhere in the UK). Elsewhere in the UK, STV Player offers a range of new and archive content from STV and third-parties.
On TV, STV’s peaktime viewing share of 22.5% was the highest since 2009. The channel enjoyed a bigger peaktime 16-34 audience than C4, ITV2 and BBC Three combined.
