TalkTalk TV Hub rolled out to more customers

14 December 2023

TalkTalk announces that its TV Hub is now available to customers who haven’t yet upgraded to its full fibre service.

  • TV Hub available on TalkTalk FTTC (Fibre 35 & 65) packages.
  • Opens up access to 70 live TV channels plus on-demand and streaming players.

The TV Hub launched earlier this year as a limited release for its Full Fibre customers and after strong demand, TalkTalk says it will be offering the box to more of its customers. Those on TalkTalk’s Fibre 35 and Fibre 65 (FTTC) packages will also be able to request a TV Hub box.

The TV Hub offers over 70 live TV channels, on Demand players including BBC iPlayer and ITVX, a range of streaming and subscription services including access to Netflix, NOW, Prime Video and Disney + , plus Google Play with over 10,000 apps.

The Hub is available for £5 a month, with no long term commitments. TalkTalk is also currently offering the ability to bundle NOW Cinema and TalkTalk TV for just £9.99 per month (usually £5+£9.99). The offer is available on selected fibre plans only.

The TV Hub marks a further change in TalkTalk’s TV strategy. It once offered customers its own version of a YouView box, operating its own pay TV channel service with a range of premium channels from Sky, UKTV and other major operators.

It then launched a Netgem-based TV box, before then launching its latest TV Hub box. The TV Hub was originally exclusive to customers on full fibre (FTTH) packages. Importantly, TalkTalk no longer runs its own TV channel platform as it originally did. Instead, the Hub combines Freeview channels with channels provided via third-party apps. For example, Sky pay channels are accessed through the NOW app.

New features

Fibre Broadband customers will now also be able to use features including Google Assistant, where they can use their voice to search for movies and shows across live TV, on-demand, and streaming apps.

Ultra HD 4K and Dolby Atmos sound compatible content is also available.

With Chromecast built in, customers can also cast movies, apps and games directly to their TV from phones, tablets or laptops.

Matthew Poole, Head of Entertainment at TalkTalk, said:

“We’re excited to announce we are now rolling out our great value TV Hub to new and existing fibre broadband customers this winter. Our TV Hub offers access to the widest range of entertainment services compared to any other major UK broadband provider. All wrapped up for just £5 a month, without any long term commitments”
