CNN arriving on more Smart TVs

23 December 2024

A deal between Titan OS and CNN means more smart TV viewers will have free access to two CNN services in the UK.

  • CNN International live stream coming to Philips smart TVs and selected Sony Android TVs
  • Continues CNN’s expansion across UK households after years of retreat.

Titan OS and CNN have announced a new partnership that will see two CNN services launch on Titan OS’s channel line-up. Titan OS runs on Philips smart TVs. Titan also operates a selection of streaming channels available on selected Sony Android TVs.

The two services are:

  • CNN Fast: with short-form videos on international news stories, market updates, entertainment highlights, sports coverage and environmental issues. With clips ranging from three to six minutes, CNN Fast offers a swift and efficient way for viewers to stay informed.
  • CNN International: a live stream of the global news channel with news, current affairs, business, travel and technology shows.

CNN arrives on Titan OS in January 2025.

It marks a further step towards CNN becoming available for free in more households in the UK. It’s already available on other smart TV platforms, and has recently returned to Virgin Media homes.

Just three years ago, CNN cut its availability in the UK, terminating its carriage on Freesat and Virgin Media, pushing viewers to a subscription live stream. Since then, the channel has changed direction with inclusion on more platforms. Now as part of Warner Bros Discovery, a live stream of CNN is also expected to be part of streaming service Max from 2026 in the UK.

Corporate comments

Judith Díaz, Content Partnerships Director at Titan OS, commented:

“The news genre continues to be one of the top-performing categories on FAST. The launch of CNN marks a significant milestone in our channel lineup, enhancing our news offering with the addition of both CNN International and CNN Fast. It joins an already robust selection of leading local, national, and international broadcasters, including Euronews, Bloomberg, France 24, and the recently launched Actualidad 360, featuring programming curated by Europe’s top news agencies.”

Humphrey Black, Vice President, Distribution, CNN International Commercial, added:

“It is great to reach new audiences on Titan OS who can now keep informed with CNN International’s renowned global reporting and breaking news around the clock. Those who prefer shorter updates can enjoy CNN Fast‘s quick-paced insights covering everything from global events and business to the latest lifestyle news. We’re excited to offer different ways for viewers to watch CNN content across Europe.”
