EE TV customers who currently only get basic access to Discovery+ have had their access upgraded for full Olympic access until 12th August.
- EE TV customers will be able to watch the full 3,800 hours of Paris 2024 coverage that will be available on Discovery+
- Customers may need to activate Discovery+ first.
- In addition, Eurosport’s extra linear channels are available to subscribers.
Today, EE TV confirmed that all of its customers can access Discovery+’s coverage of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, regardless of their subscription tier.
Normally, EE TV customers on “Entertainment” or “Big Entertainment” get Discovery+ Basic with their TV service. From today until 12th August, this access is upgraded to ‘Standard’, which includes Eurosport and full Olympic coverage.
Customers who have TNT Sports added to their EE TV subscription are already entitled to Discovery+ Premium, which also includes full Olympic coverage. Additionally, customers will be able to watch live Olympic content on the EE TV app too. The app is available for phones/tablets.
Eurosport and its owner Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) are the main UK and Ireland broadcast rights holders for the 2024 Olympics.
Late confirmation of freebie
Official confirmation that EE TV would open up full Olympic coverage to all TV customers came relatively late.
Less than three weeks ago, WBD’s own publicity couldn’t confirm either channel details for EE TV, nor universal availability on Discovery+. It merely said that EE TV customers could enjoy the action “depending on their subscription type.”
▶ Activating Discovery+ on BT & EE platforms
If you’re an EE TV customer with either BT or EE Broadband, you’ll need to take action to activate your free access to Discovery+ if you haven’t done so already.
BT has published full details on how to activate Discovery+ on its website.
You can find the Discovery+ app on your BT/EE TV box.
▶ Eurosport channels on EE TV
Eurosport’s extra pop-up HD channels are available on EE TV channels 487-493. They’re also listed in SD format between channel 480-486. They first appeared on the channel list last week.
Coverage of the first Olympic events starts today (Wednesday 24th) at 1:50pm. Football, Archery and Rugby Sevens events all start before Friday’s opening ceremony.
