Formula E comes to Freeview and Freesat via ITV

29 November 2024

All 16 Formula E-Prix races and qualifying sessions of Season 11 available live and free on ITVX, plus nine live races on ITV 4.

  • More live coverage in the UK across all major free-to-air platforms.
  • New highlights show coming to ITV 4 and ITVX
  • Nicki Shields lead presenter; Series favourites Karun Chandhok, David Coulthard and Billy Monger return to complete the Season 11 presenter line-up.

Formula E fans will be able to watch or stream live coverage of all races for free this season. ITV has signed up as a second UK broadcast partner for the Formula E 2024-25 season, alongside TNT Sports.

ITV will host nine races live on ITV 4, as well as an all-new bespoke highlights show after each race weekend. Streaming service ITVX will show all 16 races, including the qualifying rounds. The streaming service will offer coverage via a dedicated pop-up channel. ITVX will also carry the highlights show on-demand.

The Season 11 calendar starts in São Paulo on 7th December with coverage of the qualifying on ITVX. The main race will be available on both ITVX and ITV 4.

The last Formula E season was exclusive to TNT Sports, although coverage of the final rounds was made free-to-view on sister channel Quest in July. TNT Sports and Discovery+ will continue to show live coverage for subscribers.

New Formula E highlights show on ITV

A all-new bespoke highlights show is coming to ITV 4 and ITVX following every race weekend. It will be hosted by Nicki Shields, who also takes on the key role of lead presenter of the all-electric series for the first time. ITV promises to offer the new highlights show “at a regular time” in its schedules.

Nicki will be supported by championship favourites including Karun Chandhok, David Coulthard and Billy Monger.

Corporate comment

Aarti Dabas, Chief Media Officer, Formula E, said:

“We’re delighted to offer UK and Ireland fans even greater access to our incredible championship via our two fantastic media partners – TNT Sport and now ITV – giving them more ways to watch and taking them even closer to the sport. With our new post-race weekend highlights show on ITV, fans will be able to get bespoke content directly from the paddock helping educate, excite and entertain new and loyal fans alike. We can’t wait to bring our fans more track-side action and continue to grow the sport.”

Meanwhile, Richard Botchway, Assistant Commissioner, ITV Sport, said:

“This new deal brings Formula E fans some of the biggest races across Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. We are delighted to be the free-to-air partner and look forward to welcoming Formula E to ITV and ITVX.”
