Ideal World will regain its HD channel on satellite this month, nearly a year after the broadcaster was forced off air after running out of money.
- Ideal World goes HD on Sky satellite and Freesat.
- The shopping channel was saved by rival TJC in a deal made last September.
Following test transmissions over the few weeks, Ideal World is about to become available in HD once again on Sky Q, Sky+HD and Freesat.
The HD channel will completely replace the current standard definition channel, which was reintroduced in the wake of last year’s collapse of Ideal World.
Sky will make changes during the course of Monday 24th June, when channel 668 will switch to HD. On Freesat, Ideal World will switch to HD on channel 810.
Ideal World is not available on Sky’s streaming platforms (Sky Glass/Sky Stream).
Context
The Ideal World brand was bought by TJC, months after the channel went into administration last summer. By the time Ideal World was saved, its HD channel and Sky slot had been lost. New owner TJC reinstated the channel in standard definition only.
A growing number of shopping channels on satellite are now distributed in HD only, as support for older SD-only receivers stops.
