LG smart TV owners can now access a new video-on-demand service from LG and Rakuten TV opening up a world of movies.
- Over 6,000 movies available.
- First app to use new LG webOS payment system.
LG Electronics (LG) and Rakuten TV have announced the launch of LG Movies & TV, a new video-on-demand (VOD) service now available on LG TVs across the UK, Germany, Spain, and Italy.
The new app-based service enables rental, purchase and viewing of movies. LG says the service is available without the need for a subscription. Instead, viewers can pay for individual movies, as and when required.
How to access LG Movies & TV
The app is currently available on some 2022 TV models – specifically 2022 LG Full HD, UHD and select QNED TV models. It will roll out to all 2022 LG TV models by the end of the year.
Users of 2023 and 2024 model LG TVs will also see the app join their smart TV line-up.
Users can easily access LG Movies & TV from the Home Screen on the compatible LG TVs.
What’s available?
Thanks to the partnership with Rakuten TV, LG TV users now have access to over 6,000 titles to enjoy in each of the four European market where the service is available.
Launch highlights include popular franchise prequel Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and summer blockbuster The Fall Guy. Also available – Dune: Part Two, continuing the epic Frank Herbert saga.
How to pay to watch individual movies
LG Movies & TV users are the first to benefit from the newly launched webOS Pay.
WebOS is tied to a user’s LG Account. Once this is set up, webOS Pay only requires a single PIN, which simplifies transactions on LG TVs to a click on the LG Magic Remote.
This system replaces the need to scan QR codes with smartphones or manually enter URLs.
