Following a stellar launch on Sky TV earlier this year, classic entertainment channel Rewind TV confirms details of its launch on Freeview.
- Rewind TV will be added during next Freeview monthly update on 18th September.
- Viewers can look forward to TV classics including The Prisoner, The Beiderbecke Affair, Dick Turpin, Worzel Gummidge and Department S.
Rewind TV, Britain’s newest independent television channel, which aims to bring back the golden age of television, is coming to Freeview.
Freeview viewers will be able to retune their TVs or boxes from around midday on Wednesday 18th September to access Rewind TV on Freeview channel 95. It will be part of Freeview’s monthly channel update, usually taking place on the third Wednesday of the month. With the launch, Rewind TV becomes available on the UK’s largest TV platform.
What’s on Rewind TV?
The channel presents a treasure trove of historical gems from ground-breaking documentaries to iconic series. An expertly curated schedule mixes light entertainment with cinematic masterpieces to bring the unexpected to today’s audiences.
Programmes include great dramas like The Prisoner, Jason King and The Zoo Gang, and brilliant comedies like The Beiderbecke Affair and Drop the Dead Donkey, Watching. Rewind TV is also host of rare and previously unseen series including The Tony Hancock Show not broadcast since it originally aired in 1963.
Additionally, the channel is showing Mitch, Thriller, Dick Turpin, Bust, Worzel Gummidge Down Under, Department S and The Charmer. Alongside entertainment, Rewind TV also screens classic factual series including Clive James meets…, Whicker’s World and World in Action.
Reconnect with your favourite stars Dame Judi Dench, Brian Cox, Patrick McGoohan, Paul Nicholas, Richard O’Sullivan, Joanna Lumley, Richard Burton, Nigel Havers, Dave Allen, Clive James, Alan Whicker and the formidable Mrs Merton (Caroline Ahearne).
Following its Freeview launch, Rewind TV will introduce a series of fresh commissions, featuring exclusive profiles of some of the nation’s most beloved TV icons. Kicking off the series is Michael Aspel, whose illustrious primetime career spanned over seven decades.

A growing number of TV guides now list Rewind TV. The TV Times added the channel’s listings in its latest issue (7-13th September). Meanwhile, TV Guide UK offers online users a full seven day guide.
▶ Rewind TV on other platforms
- Sky satellite viewers can already access the channel on 190. It is not available on Sky Stream/Glass.
- EE TV users will also get the channel when it arrives on Freeview 95. However, you’ll need to use the box is in aerial mode. It is unavailable via internet mode.
- Likewise, Freely TV owners will be able to access the channel once it’s on Freeview, if the TV is connected to an aerial. It will not be available in wi-fi/ethernet only mode.
- The channel is currently unavailable on Freesat or Virgin.
Rewind TV is founded by Oscar Beuselinck and Jonathan Moore. Commenting on the forthcoming Freeview launch they said:

Rewind TV is a UK operation not to be confused with the US brand owned by the Nexstar Media Group.
