Warner Bros Discovery signs deal that will allow TNT Sports to broadcast England’s test cricket series in India next week, confirming recent media speculation.
- England’s five test series was threatened by a TV blackout in the UK
- Deal also allows TNT Sports to showcase other international cricket series hosted in India for the next five years.
- Streamers will be able to follow England in India on discovery+ Premium.
Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), the BCCI and Pitch International have signed a deal for a package of rights that will see TNT Sports showcase international cricket hosted in India on its linear and digital platforms in the UK in a deal running until 2028.
England’s imminent five test tour of India, starting on Thursday 25th January will now be available on TV in the UK. The lack of a broadcast deal threated a TV blackout. Earlier this week, media reports linked TNT Sports to a late bid for the rights, alongside more surprising candidates like Disney+.
TNT Sports coverage will be available on Sky, Virgin Media and EE TV, plus streaming on discovery+ Premium. The discovery+ Premium package is available for £30.99 a month and is not dependant on any existing pay TV subscriptions.
