UPDATED / Following the closure of Channel 4’s music channels, Virgin Media will make some changes to its music TV section.
- Changes will take place just after midnight on Monday 1st July.
- The Box, 4Music, Kiss, Kerrang and Magic are closing.
- Remaining music channels will be shuffled up to fill gaps.
Virgin Media has begun communicating changes to its music channel offer on Monday 1st July 2024.
Pop-up messages have now appeared on the affected channels announcing the changes, which includes a reshuffle of services.
The reshuffle will follow straight after the closure of Channel 4’s music channels at the stroke of midnight from 30th June to 1st July. The Box, 4Music, Kerrang TV, Kiss TV and Magic TV will all celebrate their final hours on air with a closing down party.
Then at just after midnight on Monday 1st July, Virgin Media will update its UK channel list.
- NOW 70s will take over The Box’s current slot on channel 285
- NOW 80s will take over 4Music’s current slot on channel 286
- NOW Rock will take over Kiss’s current slot on channel 288.
NOW Music is expected to fill channel 287 with its forthcoming NOW 90s and 00s channel when it finally launches. Sky has confirmed it will be launching NOW 90s and 00s on Wednesday 3rd July.
The NOW Music channels are available to all Virgin Media TV subscribers in the UK. In contrast, the Channel 4 operated channels were not included on some of Virgin’s subscription TV packages.
Sky has yet to confirm its plans to fill the gaps left by Channel 4’s music channels. Freesat is set to lose all of its remaining music channels. Meanwhile, none of the closing music channels were distributed on Freeview.
