WBD secures MotoGP for TNT Sports; Quest to air Freeview highlights

18 November 2024

Warner Bros Discovery has secured ongoing rights to MotoGP and Tissot Sprints for the UK and Ireland, with selected races available on Freeview, Freely and Freesat.

  • From 2025, a new free-to-air weekly highlights show will air on Quest.
  • TNT Sports and Discovery+ will remain home of all live coverage

TNT Sports will continue to be the home of Moto GP following confirmation of a multi-year TV rights deal for the UK and Ireland between Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and Moto GP rights holder Dorna.

In a bid to improve the accessibility and availability of motorcycle racing, the deal also includes the TIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship, the FIM MotoE World Championships. Free-to-air coverage will be expanded, with selected Moto GP events live on Freeview, Freely and Freesat.

Live coverage of all MotoGP Grand Prix races and Tissot Sprints will air on TNT Sports and discovery+ (for subscribers with the TNT Sports option). Viewers in the UK and Ireland will also be able to follow Moto2, Moto3 and all qualifying and practice sessions live.

The new TV rights deal coincides with a major brand refresh for Moto GP, including a new logo (pictured above).

The first MotoGP weekend in 2025 takes place at 28th February-2nd March, starting with the Thai GP.

Free-to-air coverage

WBD will harness its network by offering fans free-to-air live coverage of every Sprint from every round, as well as a new weekly highlights show on its free-to-air channel Quest for the very first time.

Quest, available on Freeview channel 12 and Freesat channel 144, will also broadcast two MotoGP races live each season, including the British GP. Freely users can also access the channel, if their TV is connected to an aerial.

The move will see more high profile sport returning to Quest on a regular basis. The channel was previously home to a weekly EFL highlights show, before it lost the rights. Since then, Warner Bros Discovery’s strategy has seen some live sports appear on sister free-to-air channel DMAX instead.

Corporate comment

Alex Arroyo, Head of Media Rights at MotoGP rights holder Dorna, commented:

“We’re very happy to announce that fans in the UK and Ireland can continue enjoying MotoGP on TNT Sports. Since TNT first became home of MotoGP, they have provided top quality coverage of the sport for audiences in a key market. We’re excited that the next years of our agreement will also expand into free-to-air Sprints – an incredible addition to the Championship, and one we know new fans will love even more. We look forward to working together to grow the sport even further across the UK and Ireland.”
